Technicians and suppliers on our network work in all nine provinces, from Highveld suburbs where summer storms and power cuts trip compressors, to the humid KZN coast where salt air eats condenser coils, Cape Town's dry summer wind and winter damp, Karoo and Northern Cape heat that pushes freezers hard, and farming and mining towns that depend on cold rooms. Choose your province or town to read what the climate does to fridges there and request quotes.
Gauteng
Gauteng packs more fridges into a small area than anywhere else in the country, from bar fridges in student flats in Braamfontein and Hatfield to the cold rooms of butcheries, takeaways and wholesalers in every township. The Highveld air is dry, so coils clog with dust rather than rust, and the summer storm season brings lightning, tripped DB boards and power surges that can take out start relays and control boards. Spaza shops and taverns in Soweto, Tembisa and Mamelodi run glass door coolers flat out, while townhouse complexes keep landlords busy with tired combis. Regassing, compressor swaps and display fridge repairs are asked for most, by households, shop owners, caterers and the factories of the East Rand.

Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga is really two refrigeration markets. On the Highveld around eMalahleni, Secunda and Middelburg, fridges sit in mine and power station towns where coal dust settles on condenser coils and winter nights drop below freezing. Down the escarpment in the Lowveld, the heat and humidity of Mbombela, White River and Hazyview make compressors work hard most of the year. Citrus, macadamia and banana farms need packhouse cold rooms, lodges near the Kruger gates keep bar fridges in every chalet, and butcheries and supermarkets in the bigger towns run display chillers all day. The usual requests are for fridges that will not cool in summer, cold room service before harvest, and chest freezers for farm and lodge kitchens.
North West
North West mixes platinum mining towns, a long maize and sunflower belt and weekend homes around Hartbeespoort Dam. In Rustenburg and Brits the fridge load comes from mine housing, hostels, canteens and the shops and taverns that serve them, while Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom have student digs, older family homes and a busy trade in second-hand appliances. Summers are hot and dry, dust blows off the mine dumps and ploughed lands, and rural areas can see long power cuts and dips in voltage. Farms around Lichtenburg and Delareyville keep chest freezers full of meat, and butcheries run walk-in cold rooms. Most requests are for fridges that run but do not cool, chest freezer repairs and cold room checks.
Limpopo
Limpopo is the hottest stretch of the country for many fridges. In the Lowveld around Tzaneen, Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa, summer heat and humidity keep compressors running almost nonstop, and a fridge pushed tight against a wall can struggle to cool at all. The province grows avocados, mangoes, bananas, citrus and tomatoes, so packhouses and fruit traders need cold rooms, while game lodges around Hoedspruit keep freezers full of venison and bar fridges in every room. Villages around Thohoyandou and Giyani run spaza shops on glass door coolers, often on long, unsteady power lines. Polokwane is the main supply centre. Most calls are for regassing, compressor and relay failures, and cold room repairs in the packing season.
Northern Cape
The Northern Cape is huge, dry and thinly spread, so the real challenge with a broken fridge here is distance. Kimberley, Upington and Kathu hold most of the technicians and spares, while farms in the Karoo and Namaqualand can be hours away. Summer heat along the Orange River around Upington and Kakamas is fierce, and dust from the iron ore and manganese mines around Kathu and Postmasburg settles on every coil. Table grape and raisin farms rely on cold rooms at harvest, Karoo sheep farms keep chest freezers full of lamb, and mining towns have busy shops and canteens. Households, farmers and guest houses mostly ask for regassing, freezer repairs and cold room service before harvest.
Free State
The Free State has a climate of extremes for fridges. Bloemfontein and Welkom swing from hot summer afternoons to frosty winter nights, and on the eastern highlands around Bethlehem and Harrismith snow is not unusual. Fridges and chest freezers kept in garages and outside rooms can stop starting in deep cold, then struggle in January heat. Grain and cattle farms keep freezers full of meat, the goldfields towns around Welkom have many spaza shops and taverns, and Clarens is full of guest houses and restaurants. Trucks on the N1 and N3 stop at forecourt shops with long rows of bottle coolers. Repairs to freezers, regassing and display cooler work make up most requests.
KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal runs from the humid, salty coast to the cold Midlands and the dry north. On the coast from Port Shepstone through Durban and Umhlanga to Ballito, humidity makes door seals sweat and salt air eats at condenser coils and fins. The harbours at Durban and Richards Bay move chilled and frozen cargo through cold stores, the Midlands is dairy country, and sugar cane and timber cover the coastal hills. Inland, Newcastle and Ladysmith have hot summers and frosty winters. Holiday flats, guest houses and townhouse complexes keep landlords calling, and townships from Umlazi to Madadeni rely on spaza shops with glass door coolers. Coil corrosion, regassing and cold room repairs are asked for most.
Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape stretches from a windy, salty coastline to the dry Karoo and the rolling hills of the former Transkei. Gqeberha and East London are the industrial centres, with vehicle and component plants that run canteens and cold storage, and harbours that handle fish and fruit. Citrus from the Sundays River Valley, pineapples near Port Alfred and dairy near Humansdorp all need cold chains. Inland, Graaff-Reinet's farms freeze mutton through hot summers and cold winters, and around Mthatha many homes and spaza shops sit on long rural lines where power cuts and voltage dips are common. Most requests are for compressor and relay faults, display coolers and fridges near the sea losing their coils to corrosion.
Western Cape
The Western Cape has a split personality for refrigeration. Cape Town's Atlantic and False Bay suburbs face salt air and the summer south-easter, while inland towns such as Worcester, Paarl and Robertson bake through dry summers. Fruit, wine and fishing drive much of the commercial work: deciduous fruit packhouses in the Ceres and Grabouw areas, table grapes in the Hex River Valley, wine farms around Stellenbosch, and fish and abalone along the coast from Hermanus to the West Coast. Restaurants, guest houses and holiday lets along the Garden Route run cold rooms and bar fridges, and Cape Flats spaza shops rely on bottle coolers. Coil corrosion, cold room service and display fridge repairs lead the requests.
